Access to information and privacy

The Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor) makes make every reasonable effort to respond accurately, completely and in a timely manner.

Any Canadian citizen, permanent resident or any person or corporation residing in Canada has the right to request access to records of government institutions that are subject to the Access to Information Act.

Canadian citizens, permanent residents or individuals present in Canada have the right to access their personal information or request correction of the content of their personal information held by government institutions that are subject to the Privacy Act.


Make an access to information or personal information request to FedNor

Step 1: Check if the information is already public.

Before submitting a request under the Access to Information Act, check if the information that you seek has already been released by the Government of Canada on the Completed Access to Information Requests site or through the Proactive Disclosure portal.

Step 2: Determine the right federal institution

Submit a request to FedNor only if it is about the programs and services of FedNor. All other requests must be submitted directly to the institution that holds that information.

Step 3: Plan your request

Your request should be as specific as possible. It should include enough detail for an experienced employee, with reasonable effort, to identify the records you are requesting. 
If you request personal information about someone other than yourself, that person must provide verifiable, written authorization that you are acting as their representative.

  • By email (personal information requests or records correct requestions only)

The Access to Information and Privacy Online Request Service offers a convenient way to make a personal information request or a request for information and eliminates the need to print, scan and email or mail a form to FedNor.

  1. Complete the Access to Information Request Form, the Personal Information Request Form, or Record Correction Request Form
  2. Submit your request and payment of the $5.00 application fee, payable by cheque or money order to the Receiver General to Canada, to:

  2. When making an access to information request by email, please remember that processing starts when our department receives payment of the $5.00 fee.
